GETTING STARTED WITH IBM CLOUD AT HACKATHONS
Welcome!
On this page I’d like to share some information that you can use to prepare for the upcoming HACK|BAY
hackathon 2019. The IBM
Cloud is a comprehensive Plattform-as-a-Service solution that
allows to rapidly
develop applications.
- It consists of more than 170 services, such as databases, IoT, artificial intelligence etc.. This blog provides some general recommendations on how to prepare for
hackathons.
- Multiple runtimes can be used (e.g. Node.js, Java, Python). If you have limited coding experiences
you
might want to consider using Node-RED, which is a visual programming
tool that offers a browser-based flow editor for wiring together devices, APIs, and
services and accelerating the coding. Note that Node-RED runs on many OS, devices, and clouds.
- Chatbots can be used in a variety of use cases and the Watson Assistant service is
the perfect tool to create them as described in this demo and these instructions
for developers. Chatbot paltforms like Slack, Facebook and
Telegram can
be connected to the Watson Assistant, this Node-RED
flow is using
Telegram as this is easy to implement.
If you are interested in using the IBM Cloud I'D recommend to sign up for an
IBMid, create
your IBM Cloud account and play around a bit before the hackathon.
Questions? Please email me! Looking forward to see you at the hackathon and
have fun!
